Hi everyone! Vanakkam!

I just wanted to share a brief overview of the adventure that is beginning for me.

As a student from Manchester College, I have enrolled in the BCA study-abroad program in Chennai (Madras), India. Yes, you read that right-- I'm in INDIA!

This program is concentrated in the Social Work area, very closely connected to Sociology, the major I'm currently pursuing. One girl from BCA is instead concentrating in the Political Science area here with us. We will be instructed on how to enroll for classes and our field placement, which should be very enlightening. However, we get some travel and free time, too! I will study here for one semester length, late June through mid-November.

Look for upcoming posts mentioning the Taj Mahal, beaches, temples, animals, people, and more. Who knows what can happen between now and November.

Keep in touch! And I will try to do the same,
~Kristen

  1. Hey Kristen! I hope you're not having too much trouble with jet lag. India has sure been our minds, as we made all our train reservations this week for our trip in August, as well as a couple nights in motels. What's the weather like?
sending love and joy your way,

    1. Rachel!
Thanks for reminding me of your trip. How cool that you'll be around!
Since we've gotten here, we received some rain that has cooled things off a bit, but also made it quite humid. It has been around 90 degrees Fahrenheit I'd say. Though, Saturday it was pretty hot, over 100. So, yes, overall pretty warm yet.

Have a great July! Can't believe it's here already. Good luck on your upcoming trip- it will be great! Let me know how it goes, and if you need a contact for Chennai, for any reason... :) Always glad to help.

      Love,
      ~Kristen
